Every day, nearly 100 lives are left unfinished due to gun violence. These victims leave behind incomplete ideas, ambitions, goals, and dreams.
Symbols of the lives cut short may take the form of songs, drawings, poems, architectural projects, unattended events, unworn clothing, text messages, or anything else that conjures up feelings of incompleteness.
If you or a loved one has been affected by gun violence, please consider submitting an incomplete artifact as we honor the creative minds, souls, and spirits of gun violence victims.Submit Artifact
Joaquin Oliver was the victim of a 2018 school shooting in Parkland, Florida. His death meant he was never able to finish the basketball season with his team. His parents, Manuel and Patricia, have submitted his basketball shoes to represent Joaquin’s incomplete season.
Change the Ref is a nonprofit founded by Manuel and Patricia Oliver in memory of their son, Joaquin, one of the 17 people who lost their lives during the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018.
CTR’s mission is to give the younger generation of survivors and victims a disruptive voice and empower them to fight for their values and impact change for their futures.
